A clump-forming, rhizomatous species native to the western U.S. It produces racemes of up to 10 unscented nodding, Turk's-cap like flowers. The 3 to 4 inch blooms are orange to crimson accented with a yellow to pale orange base freckled with maroon leopard-like spots. Strong stems carry dense whorls of lance-shaped, 7 inch leaves.
