Maypop Passionflower. The hardiest passionflower, native to the Eastern U.S. Abundant large, showy flowers of white and lavender are produced all summer. Flowers are followed by egg-sized edible yellow fruit that has the spritely flavor of tropical Passionfruit. Although the vines freeze to the ground each winter, the plants are root hardy to -20 degrees F and will regrow, flower and fruit the following season. Called 'Maypop' because it pops out of the ground each May (sometimes June).
