"Blackberry Lily" or "Leopard Flower" - A rhizomatous member of the iris family, the Blackberry Lily produces fans of sword-shaped foliage and iris-like 2 inch flowers in mid to late summer. The numerous blooms (each lasts only a day) are borne for several weeks running. When the blooms fade, a cluster of blackberry-like seeds replaces each flower. Best left to form a healthy clump in the border, by a roadside or in the wild garden. Native to India, China and Japan.
